Mayer re-elected New Town/Little Shell council rep; winners in 2 other segments go on to general election

NEW TOWN – The Three Affiliated Tribes Election Board has released the results of the primary election for three tribal business council seats. The election was held on Tuesday on the Fort Berthold Reservation.

Incumbent Dr. Monica Mayer, who received the majority of the votes cast in the primary election for New Town/Little Shell Segment representative, was the winner. Mayer received 420 votes.

Others running for New Town/Little Shell Segment representative and the number of votes they received were: D. Royce Irwin, 28; Darian Morsette, 152; Kelly Hosie, 21; Kermit Heart, 35; and Roger D. White Owl, 69.

In the Mandaree Segment, Sherry Turner-Lone Fight with 137 votes and Lloyd Vigen with 94 votes were the winners and will go on to the general election.

Others running for Mandaree Segment representative and the number of votes they received were: Harriet Goodiron, 70; Kelly Bradfield, 65; and William A. Reeves II, 24.

Mandaree council representative Randy Phelan did not seek re-election.

In the White Shield Segment, incumbent Fred Fox with 215 votes and Gary Dickens with 122 votes were the winners and will advance to the general election.

Others running for White Shield representative and the number of votes they received were: Cody White Bear, 46; Ethan White Calfe, 10; and Wanbdi Waci, 47.

The Three Affiliated Tribes’ general election will be Tuesday, Nov. 3.
