Ward County designated storm shelters announced

Jennifer Wiechmann, director of Ward County Emergency Management, has provided the following list of storm shelters in Ward County cities.

Any time a tornado watch or warning goes out, she said her office contacts each city designated point of contact to let them know that it is in effect. “That contact then prepares to either set up the shelter immediately or prepares to set it up in the event of a warning,” she said. She said this differs city by city.

Following are the cities, shelter name and location:

– Berthold: Lewis and Clark High School, 401 4th Ave. NE, Berthold.

– Burlington: Burlington Elementary School, 301 Wallace St., Burlington.
