Programs planned at Missouri-Yellowstone Confluence Interpretive Center

Submitted Photo Events are scheduled this month at the Missouri-Yellowstone Confluence Interpretive Center near Williston.

WILLISTON – A number of events are planned at the Missouri-Yellowstone Confluence Interpretive Center near Williston. All events are free and open to the public. All times are Central time.

New health and safety protocols are in place for staff and visitors. Buildings are open to a limited number of visitors at one time, heightened cleaning protocols are in place, and some “high touch” experiences are closed at this time. Visitors are asked to follow the CDC’s recommendations on social distancing and personal hygiene while visiting state historic sites.

– July 11-12: Sixth Infantry Encampment reenactors will perform demonstrations of military life on Saturday, July 11, beginning at 10 a.m. including a cannon demonstration at 2:30 p.m. On Sunday, July 12, the encampment reenactors will visit with guests at the barracks throughout the day.

– July 16: Confluence History Book Club, 7 p.m. Join history buffs in discussing this month’s book “Empire of the Summer Moon” by S.C. Gwynne. Free refreshments.

– July 17-18: Confluence Sewing and Quilting, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. All experience levels invited and instruction provided. Bring your own lunch.

The Missouri-Yellowstone Confluence Interpretive Center is part of Fort Buford State Historic Site managed by the State Historical Society of North Dakota. Summer hours at Fort Buford State Historic Site are daily,10 a.m.-6 p.m. Missouri-Yellowstone Confluence Interpretive Center is open yearround: daily, 9 a.m.-6 p.m.
