Past month above average temps

This past month of June had an average temperature of 65.8 degrees which was 3 degrees above the 113-year, long-term average of 62.8 degrees, according to Austin Kraklau of the North Central Research Extension Center, south of Minot.

The lowest temperature of the month was 41 degrees which occurred on June 19 and the high was 95 degrees which occurred on June 28, Kraklau said.

As of Tuesday, the last day of June, at 8:30 a.m., the total moisture for the month was 2.94 inches – 0.32 inches below the long-term average of 3.26 inches. Every month in the year 2020 has been below average moisture, he said at that time.

As of Wednesday, the first day of July, at 8 a.m., Kraklau reported he had recorded 1.45 inches of moisture at the center in the past 24-hour period.

For the rest of the week the forecast calls for temperatures in the higher 80s and a chance of thunderstorms.
