Dylan Bruce charged with raping, beating girlfriend; stepmother Stacey Bruce allegedly joined in beating woman when she tried to leave campground

Dylan Lee Bruce, 19, Minot, is charged in district court in Minot with raping his girlfriend by physical force at a campground on Saturday and punching her in the face with a closed fist and knocking her on the ground when she tried to leave.

Bruce and his stepmother, Stacey Kae Bruce, 36, then allegedly continued to strike the woman in the face and the head while she was on the ground and Dylan Bruce yelled at his stepmother to keep beating the woman.

Dylan Bruce is charged in district court in Minot with Class AA felony gross sexual imposition and Class C felony aggravated assault. He could face up to life in prison without parole if he is convicted or is found guilty. He would also have to register as a sex offender. Stacey Bruce is charged with Class C felony aggravated assault, a charge that carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed with the court, neighboring campers at the Nelson/Carlson Lake overheard the woman telling Dylan Bruce she did not want to have sex with him and then arguing with Bruce and his family. Two neighbors went over to the campsite and tried to get the family to let the woman leave and the family members refused to let the woman leave and berated the neighbors for getting involved in the altercation.

Both Dylan Bruce and his stepmother Stacey Bruce made initial appearances in court before Judge Gary Lee on Tuesday. Judge Lee set bond for Dylan Bruce at $100,000 cash or corporate surety and for Stacey Bruce at $25,000 cash or corporate surety. Lee also ordered both Dylan Bruce and Stacey Bruce to have no contact with the alleged victim. A preliminary hearing for both is scheduled for Oct. 1 in district court in Minot before Lee.
