Minot Park Board accepts bids for pool slide, scoreboard

Pool slide, scoreboard plans move forward

The latest bids on the construction of a replacement water slide at the Roosevelt Park Pool bring the total estimated cost of the project to $1.46 million.

The Minot Park Board accepted the $903,000 bid of Rolac Contracting of Minot at a meeting Wednesday. Associated Pool Builders previously submitted the accepted, low bid for erection of an Avalanche water slide. The two bids, including engineering, contingency and other costss total an estimated $1.46 million.

Contractors aim to finish construction by the end of 2020, or in time for the 2021 season.

The park board also agreed to negotiate with Nevco of Greenville, Illinois, which submitted the lowest, complying bid of $239,799 for a new center-hung scoreboard in the Pepsi Rink of Maysa Arena. The park district will have additional engineering and electrical costs, but a large donation is expected to pay for the project.

Scoreboard installation could occur in the fall. The existing Pepsi scoreboard will be transferred to another rink in the arena.
