May’s average temperature at 52.5 degrees

Minot had an average temperature of 52.5 degrees this past month of May, according to Joe Effertz of the North Central Research Extension Center, south of Minot.

That temperature was was 0.9 degrees below the 113-year long-term average of 53.4 degrees, said Effertz.

“Our lowest temperature of the month was 26 degrees, which occurred on May 10th and the high was 83 degrees which occurred on the 22nd,” Effertz also said.

He said the total moisture for the month was 1.37 inches which is 0.94 inches below the long-term average of 2.31 inches. He said every month in the year 2020 has been below average moisture.

Minot will have sunny days through Friday and then a chance of showers and thunderstorms during the weekend according to National Weather Service forecasters.
