Jason Ellingson, Minot, charged with intent to deliver heroin

Jason Ray Ellingson, 41, Minot, is charged in district court in Minot with Class B felony intent to deliver heroin in Minot on Wednesday.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed with the court, Ellingson was arrested following a traffic stop in the 3200 block of 4th Street SW on Wednesday afternoon. The Minot police officer wrote that he stopped Ellingson because he knew he had a suspended driver’s license and spotted him driving a red Dodge Magnum on Broadway. He first confirmed the status of Ellingson’s license before stopping him. Officers asked Ellingson permission to search his vehicle and he gave permission. The search turned up a vial of suspected heroin weighing approximately .2 grams on the floorboard of the vehicle and $679 in cash in Ellingson’s wallet on the floorboard. Police seized the money as suspected proceeds of drug deals. Ellingson’s probation officer gave police permission to search Ellingson’s cell phone and the search of his iPhone turned up messages regarding the sale and delivery of narcotics. Ellingson is on probation for a 2017 possession of heroin charge.

During his initial appearance in court on Thursday, Ellingson questioned why he was charged with intent to deliver heroin.

Judge Richard Hagar set bond at 10,000 cash or corporate surety in court on Thursday and set a preliminary hearing date for Sept. 3.
