Timothy Hattel, Minot, sentenced for intent to deliver Lorazepam, fleeing from police

Timothy Frederick Hattel, 54, Minot, was sentenced on Wednesday to 360 days in jail, all suspended but the four days he already served, and three years of supervised probation for possession with intent to deliver Lorazepam on Jan. 17.

Court records show that North Central District Court Judge Doug Mattson also ordered Hattel to obtain a chemical dependency evaluation and to pay $525 in court costs.

If he successfully completes probation, the Class C felony charge will be reduced to a Class A misdemeanor.

Judge Mattson gave Hattel a concurrent sentence of 360 days, all suspended but the four days, and two years of supervised probation on a Class A misdemeanor charge of fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed with the court, an officer had initiated a traffic stop and Hattel took off and fled from police. Police pursued the vehicle until Hattel got stuck in south Minot.

Hattel was searched and the search turned up 35 Lorazepam pills in a clear baggie in his pants pocket. Hattel also appeared to be intoxicated and refused to take a field sobriety test. Hattel told police that he trades the prescription pills for money and other things and admitted he did not have a prescription for them.

Hattel also had 50 zip lock baggies and two baggies filled with marijuana in his possession.
