In honor of Veterans Day, Missing Man Table displayed at 3 Trinity Health locations

In honor of Veterans Day, Trinity Health’s Employer of Choice Committee will display a Missing Man Table in three locations around Trinity Health – the Trinity Hospital Cafeteria, the entrance at Trinity Hospital- St. Joseph’s, and the 1st Floor Centre at Trinity Homes.

The Missing Man or POW/MIA Table honors fallen, missing, or imprisoned military service members with specific items that symbolize their courage and sacrifice:

White Tablecloth – Represents the purity of their response to our country’s call to service.

Empty Chair – Depicts an unknown face, representing no specific soldier, sailor, airman, or Marine.

Round Table – Shows that concern for them is never ending.

Bible – Represents faith in a higher power and our country’s founding as one nation under God.

Black Napkin – Stands for the emptiness the warriors have left in the hearts of their families and friends. (A Purple Heart medal can be pinned to the napkin.)

Single Red Rose – Reminds us of their families and loved ones.

Red Ribbon – Represents love of country, which inspired them to answer our nation’s call.

Yellow Candle and Ribbon – Symbolize the everlasting hope for a joyous reunion with those yet unaccounted for.

Lemon Slices and Salt Upon Bread Plate – Remind us of their bitter fate and the tears of their families.
