Armstrong nominates students to U.S. service academies

FARGO – Two area students have been nominated to U.S. service academies by Congressman Kelly Armstrong.

Hunter Baer of Garrison has been nominated to the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Md., and Joshua Seibel of Harvey to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y.

Baer graduated from Garrison High School in May with a 3.80 grade point average. He currently attending Dakota State University in Madison, S.D., where he participates in the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps and the Student Senate. His high school extracurricular activities included class and student body president, vice president of Garrison Chapter of Future Farmers of America, state champion in two separate events in speech, a delegate and counselor for North Dakota Boys State and competing in cross country.

Seibel graduated from Harvey High School in May with a 3.54 grade point average. He is currently attending the University of North Dakota, where he participates in the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps and the UND band. His high school extracurricular activities included achieving the rank of Eagle Scout, being inducted into the National Honors Society and participating in sprinting, cross country, FFA, and Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America.
