Terry Ginder, Drayton, charged with intent to deliver methamphetamine in Berthold

Terry Jennings Ginder, 37, Drayton, is charged in district court in Minot with Class A felony possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine while in possession of a firearm in Berthold and Class A misdemeanor possession of methamphetamine paraphernalia.

He was scheduled to make an initial appearance in court on Tuesday before Judge Gary Lee.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed with the court by Berthold police chief Al Schmidt, Schmidt saw Ginder’s black Dodge truck leaving the area behind the Cenex building early Monday morning. The store was closed and Schmidt wrote there was no reason for a vehicle to be behind the store.

Schmidt pulled up next to the vehicle and made contact with Ginder. Ginder claimed to be in the area to hunt and denied having any firearms, which Schmidt found odd. He then said he had been out “booze cruising and shooting things.” Ginder then admitted he was lying about hunting with friends. Schmidt took his narcotic K9 Hunter around Ginder’s vehicle and the dog alerted to the presence of drugs. Schmidt searched Ginder’s vehicle and found plastic bundles with suspected drug residue in the dash area and approxiately one ounce of methamphetamine in the backseat. He also found multiple needles with suspected drug residue, a meth pipe with suspected drug residue, and a marijuana pipe with suspected drug residue in fast food bags in the bed of the truck. He also found a holster and ammunition, though Ginder denied having a firearm.

According to the affidavit, Schmidt and his officers had been investigating a report of multiple gunshots in Berthold late Sunday night. An alleged victim had been assaulted and was bleeding from the face but could not recall what had happened. The alleged victim had possibly sustained a head injury. Two suspects were questioned and later released. Schmidt also questioned Ginder at the jail regarding the incident, according to the affidavit.

No charges have been filed regarding the gunshots in Berthold or the assault.
