Ronald Drager receives deferred sentence for growing marjuana plants

Ronald Dean Drager, 62, Sawyer, received concurrent deferred sentences for one year on Wednesday for simple assault and for growing marijuana plants in his residence.

Police found three marijuana plants growing in the home when they responded to a domestic violence incident at the home in Sawyer on April 20. Drager had struck a woman in the home.

The Class B felony and Class B misdemeanor charges will be dismissed if Drager complies with all conditions set by the court for the next year.

North Central District Court Judge Gary Lee also ordered Drager to complete an anger management class, to obtain a chemical dependency evaluation and to pay $775 in court costs. Drager will also receive credit for two days served in the Ward County Jail.

A deferred sentence has been the usual sentence for people charged with intent to deliver or manufacture marijuana in the North Central District Court over the last year or so.
