The Taube Museum of Art in downtown Minot has two artist on display in their galleries for the next month. Lino and Jaime Azevedo have taken over the Taube’s main and lower galleries.

Lino Azevedo grew up in San Francisco and is currently pursuing a lifelong love for art and helping others do the same. Lino is a former professor at Williston State College and currently working at the prestigious Savannah College of Art and Design. His work has been featured across the United States.

His wife, Jamie, grew up in North Carolina and has always had a deep love for storytelling. She uses this passion to create a narrative in her artwork. Their work has been featured in galleries across America.

Lino’s show entitled “Lobotomy” is featured in the main gallery. Lino’s work is an effort to illuminate society and its cravings for digital vices.

His message: “Turn off the television. Put the smart phone down. Engage. Think. And, by all means, revisit real conversation with fellow citizens. Connect.”

Lino’s work combines realistic, grotesque, zombie like humans and current logos everyone is familiar with and creates a haunting narrative. The show is a perfect way to get a conversation going or at least get into the Halloween spirit.

Jamie’s show entitled “Preserving History” is featured in the lower gallery. The exhibit focuses on women in history.

Through collage, Jamie’s work helps to narrate a story of women who may or may not have heard of. The series is an excavation of their lives, achievements, and even atrocities. The exhibit will leave people wanting to discover more about the women in these works, and a desire to unearth the untold stories of the countless other neglected figures of the past.

Exhibits are up now and will be displayed until Nov. 15. They can be viewed during the Taube’s regular business hours Tuesday through Friday from 10:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
