Minot FFA members compete in district competition

On Sept. 30, the Minot Future Farmers of America chapter competed in the district competition at the Grand Hotel in Minot. They had about 20 kids compete.

The parliamentary procedure team consisted of chapter officers Cassidy Hoggarth, Rivers Bachmen, Remington Hartwig, Connor Blessum, Alyssa Ball, Aaron Bahnsen and Garrett Anderson. They received a gold ribbon with fourth place. They also had individual officers who received ribbons. The gold officers were Bachmen, vice president, and Ball, reporter. The silver officers consisted of Hoggarth, president; Hartwig, secretary; Blessum, treasurer; and Bahnsen, sentinel.

The chapter also had two quiz teams – advanced quiz and greenhand quiz. The advanced team was a silver team and consisted of Sarah Potts (gold), Garrett Anderson (silver), Summers Bachmen (silver), Sharkia Garcia (silver) and Hunter Davis (bronze).

The greenhand quiz team consisted of freshmen getting more involved in the FFA history, and they were bronze as a team and all received bronze. Individual events were creed, job interview, prepared speaking, demo and extemporaneous speaking. In job interview, Cassidy Bechuar received gold, second place and will be attending state in November.

Grady Duchscherer participated in prepared speaking, and he received a bronze. Demo was demonstrated by Mason Kraft, and he received a high silver. In extemporaneous, Ball received gold, first place and will be attending state.
