MAFB airman to serve seven years for child porn

A Minot Air Force Base airman will serve seven years in prison, followed by 10 years of supervised release, for uploading child pornography to the internet in February 2018.

Carl Deshawn Dean, 21, was sentenced earlier this week in U.S. District Court by Judge Daniel L. Hovland.

According to court documents, the images uploaded via Gmail depicted images of an adult man sexually abusing a toddler.

Dean had set up a Gmail account for a woman named Cynthia Qwaser and tried to find people who had access to children and asked those people to make child pornography.

Dean’s electronic devices revealed that he had a total of 878 images and 42 videos of child pornography on his devices.

Dean will also be required to register as a sex offender, forfeit the seized electronic devices, and pay $3,000 in restitution and $100 special assessment.

Dean will receive credit for time already served in prison.

Authorities received a Cybertip-tip about Dean from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, according to the court documents.
