According to a press release, Drive Electric North Dakota will host its first electric vehicle stakeholder public forum in Bismarck during National Drive Electric Week. The forum on Wednesday is open to the public and will feature electric vehicle owners, electric utility and cooperative representatives and key policymakers to discuss a variety of topics including:

– What does North Dakota need to capture the electric vehicle market?

– What policies should North Dakota be considering to foster electric vehicle growth?

– What does more electric vehicles mean to ND utilities and cooperatives?

– Facts vs, myths of owning an electric vehicle in North Dakota.

The forum runs from 3 to 5 p.m. in First International Bank & Trust in Bismarck.

Panelists will include State Rep. Dan Ruby, R-Minot, Bismarck Mayor Steve Bakken, Linda Sitz with the North Dakota Department of Transportation and representatives from Capital Electric Cooperative, Minnkota Electric Cooperative, MDU and several EV owners.

Drive Electric North Dakota, led by the Lignite Energy Council, is a collaborative group of citizens, businesses, utilities and stakeholders who support electric vehicle usage in North Dakota by encouraging awareness and sound policies. DEND is organized for the promotion, advancement and growth of electric vehicle use in North Dakota using locally sourced energy.

“We felt that it was important to host this event during National Drive Electric Week in order to facilitate a robust discussion on what our state could do best to help foster the rate of EV growth in our state,” said Jason Bohrer, CEO and president of the Lignite Energy Council. “The panels represent experienced and knowledgeable EV stakeholders, and this forum will have a great impact on the adoption and development of this technology moving forward. We need to find out what ND needs to do in order to keep up with the advancements that are occurring in our neighboring states and the rest of the country.”
