Katie Stroklund, Minot, sentenced to two years for dealing meth

Katie Nicole Stroklund, 29, Minot, was sentenced on Monday to five years in prison, with a requirement that she serve two years, and three years of supervised probation for delivery of methamphetamine to a confidential informant working for the Ward County Narcotics Task Force on May 22.

Stroklund pleaded guilty to Class B felony delivery of methamphetamine and Class B felony conspiracy to deliver methamphetamine. Under the terms of the plea deal, the state dropped a charge of Class B felony delivery of heroin.

Stroklund will receive credit for 12 days already served in the Ward County Jail.

Judge Stacy Louser ordered Stroklund to pay $1,835 in court costs and restitution. Stroklund is on a waiting list for a bed at a treatment center and did not want a recommendation for the prison system’s treatment center in Jamestown. However, Stroklund’s lawyer, Ashley Gulke, told the judge that Stroklund is in “dire need of treatment” and prosecutor Christopher Nelson said some of Stroklund’s recent behaviors also suggest she badly needs help for her drug addiction. Louser has made a recommendation to the prison system that Stroklund receive drug addiction treatment at the prison facility in Jamestown.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed with the court, a confidential informant working for the Ward County Narcotics Task Force had arranged to purchase seven grams of meth from Stroklund’s boyfriend, Chauncy Lakeante Johnson, 20, for $350. The deal was to take place in a room at the Guest Lodge in Minot. However, Johnson was in jail at the time. Johnson had allegedly arranged for his girlfriend, Stroklund, to make the deal instead. The confidential informant received a message on Facebook Messenger right before the deal was to take place stating “This his woman he’s in jail he told me to take care of you.” The confidential informant then met with Stroklund in a different room at the Guest Lodge and Stroklund gave the confidential informant two small plastic baggies containing methamphetamine for $350.

Johnson is charged with Class B felony conspiracy to deliver methamphetamine in district court in Minot.
