Dustyn Lee Hibberds, 27, Minot, is accused of being in possesion of a stolen 2005 Ford Focus on May 21.

According to a probable cause affidavit read by the prosecution at his initial appearance on Tuesday, the vehicle was reported stolen and Hibberds was seen on surveillance video from the Grand Hotel parking the stolen vehicle in the hotel parking lot on May 22. Police officers compared a still photo from the surveillance video with a mug shot of Hibberds and agreed that Hibberds was the man in the surveillance video.

Hibberds is charged with a Class C felony in district court in Minot.

Hibberds also has $5,600 in unpaid fines in 10 other files, according to court records. Judge Gary Lee said those files will be considered at a later date so Hibberds can set up a payment plan with the court.

Lee set bond in the theft case at $5,000, with a requirement that Hibberds pay 10 percent of that.

A preliminary hearing in the case is scheduled for Oct. 17.
