State Park to host Halloween in July

Lake Metigoshe State Park is hosting their 14th annual “Halloween in July” event July 26 and 27. Everyone is invited and encouraged to bring Halloween costumes, candy, decorate campsites and participate in all the spooky park events.

There will be a gathering at the park’s amphitheater on Friday, July 26 at 9:30 p.m. to enjoy a snack and meet some friendly ghosts. There will be trick-or-treating throughout the modern campground on Saturday, July 27 from 10-11:30 a.m. Visitors treating ghosts and goblins to goodies are asked to meet them near their campsite post.

Zombie orientation will take place 7:30 p.m. at the playground between the modern campgrounds. There will also be a scariest campsite contest. Judging will take place on Saturday morning, during trick-or-treating. Winners will be announced and prizes will be awarded at the amphitheater on Saturday at the 9:30 p.m. program.

Campsite reservations can be made by calling 1-800-807-4723 or by visiting www.parkrec.nd.gov. All modern facilities are reserved for Friday evening; primitive camping is available. The events within the ND state parks are free of charge in accordance with a $7 daily or $35 annual pass per motorized vehicle.

Lake Metigoshe State Park is located 16 miles NE of Bottineau along the Lake Loop Road, just off Highway 43.
