Farm Credit Services donates $10,000 to Ward County Historical Society

Farm Credit Services gave a $10,000 donation to aid in the expense of relocating the Ward County Historical Society’s Pioneer Village to its new home along U.S. Highway 2 and 52 east of Burlington. The historical society lost a long-running battle against the State Fair Association to keep the museum on the fairgrounds and decided not to appeal in favor of relocating the museum. All of the museum buildings have been moved from the state fairgrounds to the land in Burlington, which was donated by DeSour Valley EDC and is now owned by the historical society. However, more donations are needed to help out. The historical society board said in a press release that “the $10,000 will be helpful in achieving our goal to provide a gathering place where our history can be shared with the next generation.”
