Ward County department head placed on administrative leave

The Ward County Commissioners met in a special meeting early Friday evening to discuss and place interim emergency management co-director Kristina Weber on leave.

Weber is being placed on administrative leave without pay pending an investigation into charges that she used a county credit card for personal charges.

The potential misuse of the credit card was brought to the attention of chairman Shelly Weppler Friday afternoon. The board moved to place Weber’s pay in escrow until they come to a resolution.

Weber then joined the meeting and briefly addressed the board asking for the purpose of the special meeting.

“This matter will be potentially investigated by Minot Police Department,” vice chairman John Fjeldahl said. Fjeldahl then told Weber that it appeared there were some personal charges on the county credit card by her department.

When Weber asked to speak on the matter, Weppler informed Weber that the matter would be investigated. At that time, Weber requested to seek counsel and end the session.

Weber was appointed co-director of the emergency management department after Amanda Schooling resigned from the position in March.
