Brandon Liddell, Minot, charged with child neglect

Brandon Edward Liddell, 35, Minot, is accused of leaving his three small children home alone late Friday night.

Liddell is charged in district court in Minot with Class C felony child neglect.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed with the court, police received a call from Liddell’s ex-girlfriend reporting that Liddell was supposed to be watching the children, who are ages 6, 2, and 1, while she was at a friend’s house. Liddell had allegedly called the woman and told her he planned to go out and leave the children alone.

Police responded to the home and found the children unattended. Liddell’s ex-girlfriend returned home shortly thereafter. Police later tracked down Liddell at the Dakota Lounge. Liddell told police he made sure the children were asleep before he left, said his girlfriend needs to take care of her children, and he needed “his time.” When police and the ex-girlfriend arrived at the residence, the 6-year-old boy was still asleep but the 1-year-old girl was in her crib screaming and the 2-year-old girl was wandering around the residence, calling for a grown-up.
