Boy Scout Troop 425 brings in another Eagle Scout

Submitted Photo Everett Aberle will become Troop 425’s 95th Eagle Scout on May 29. He has been a part of Boy Scouts since he joined Cub Scout Pack 404 in 2013.

On Wednesday, May 29, Boy Scout Troop 425 of Minot will celebrate Everett Aberle becoming their 95th Eagle Scout during a 6:30 p.m. Eagle Court of Honor at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. A reception is to follow the Court of Honor.

Aberle is the son of Ricky and Christine Aberle of Minot. He is currently completing his freshman year at Minot High School Central Campus where he is an honor student involved with track, cross country and band. After graduation he plans to attend college for business and accounting.

In the community, Aberle has helped collect used toys and distribute them to those in need. He attends Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church with his family where he helps the church as an usher/greeter and with the Living Stations of the Cross. His hobbies are playing flute, bassoon, piano, and running.

Aberle’s Scouting career began in 2013 with Cub Scout Pack 404 at Perkett Elementary. He earned the Arrow of Light, the Cub Scouts’ highest award. In February 2015, he joined Boy Scout Troop 425.

He has held the following leadership positions in Troop 425: Librarian for two terms, Chaplain Aide, OA Representative for two terms, Assistant Patrol Leader, Den Chief and he is currently serving as a Patrol Leader. Aberle has earned 36 Merit Badges and he will be receiving the Silver Palm for doing 15 Merit Badges above the minimum 21 Merit Badges. He has also earned the following special awards: Trailblazers, Paul Bunyan Woodsman, Mountain Goat Climb, Ironman, Fishing Fanatic, Polar Bear Swim, 50-Miler, Cyber Chip, Den Chief Service Award, Troop Meeting Perfect Attendance Award in 2015, 2016, 2018, and Troop Camping Perfect Attendance Award in 2015 – 2018.

Aberle has earned 83 days and nights of camping as a Scout with Troop 425 which includes four summer camps at the Northern Lights Council Camp Wilderness along with four Tomahawk District Camporees and four District Klondike’s. In the summer of 2017, Aberle attended the week-long National Youth Leadership Training at Camp Wilderness and in the summer of 2018 he attended the troop’s weeklong Canoe High Adventure Trip in the Boundary Waters near Ely, Minn.

Aberle is also a Brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow, which is the BSA’s Honor Society of campers.

His Eagle Scout Project involved planning, organizing, coordinating, both materials and volunteers in a landscaping project at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. The project required nearly 159 hours to complete with 16 volunteers as it involved removing the existing shrubs along with the decorating rocks and debris and then planting new shrubs, trees, flowers and reinstalling the existing decorative rock.
