The Ward County Mathcounts Competition will be held Feb. 13 on the third floor of the Minot State University Student Center.

The event is for sixth-, seventh-, and eighth-graders from public and private schools in the county. Students will compete individually and as teams in written and fast paced oral matches, according to a press release. Possible topics include probability, statistics, algebra and geometry. The competition will begin at 10 a.m. and trophies will be awarded at about 1 p.m., followed by the countdown round.

Ward County is part of Region 3 and the top two school teams and eight individual students will be selected to compete in the state competition later this spring, based on their scores in the regional competition.
