Crystal Johnson, Minot, sentenced to jail for multiple offenses
Crystal Amanda Johnson, 34, Minot, was sentenced to 30 days in jail for fleeing a police officer at a high rate of speed early Tuesday morning, for a fifth offense of driving with a suspended license within five years, and for refusal to halt.
Johnson pleaded guilty in court on Tuesday afternoon to two Class A misdemeanors and a Class B misdemeanor.
Judge Richard Hagar also sentenced her to two years of supervised probation and ordered her to pay $675 in court costs. The sentences on all of the charges are concurrent.
According to a probable cause affidavit filed with the court, Johnson fled in a rental van from a Ward County Deputy at speeds in excess of 100 mph. The deputy employed tire spikes and the van swerved into the ditch off U.S. Highway 2. Johnson and a passenger, Lawrence Demill Murray, 40, of Minot, got out of the vehicle and ran. They were then apprehended.
Murray pleaded guilty Tuesday to Class B misdemeanor refusal to halt in district court and was sentenced to 10 days in jail. Hagar also ordered him to pay $500 in court costs.
According to a probable cause affidavit filed with the court, the Ward County Sheriff’s Office had been notified at 12:29 a.m. that there was a vehicle known to have narcotics in it in the area of the Berthold Cenex. No other charges were immediately filed against Johnson and Murray in district court in Minot.
