Special Olympics North Dakota to be held in Bottineau

Let the Games being! The Special Olympics North Dakota (SOND) has announced that they will be setting up in Bottineau at the Bottineau Winter Park for the 2019 State Winter Games. On Jan. 25 and 26, over 80 athletes will compete.

The State Winter Games will include the sports of Alpine Skiing, Cross Country Skiing, and Snow Shoeing. Athletes with intellectual disabilities travel from across the state of North Dakota to compete in winter sports.

The schedule for the 2019 Winter Games will kick off at noon on Jan. 25 with volunteer registration followed by a coaches meeting and volunteer training at 1 p.m. The first events, Cross Country and Snow Shoe Competition Time Trials/Finals, will start at 2 p.m. and Alpine Assessment/Time Trials will start at 2:30 p.m.

The Opening Ceremony Line-up will start at 6:15 p.m. with the ceremony itself beginning at 6:30 p.m.

On Saturday, Jan. 26, volunteer registration will start at 8:30 a.m. with training and coach meetings at 9 a.m. The Alpine competition and Cross Country and Snow Show Competition will all begin at 10 a.m.

All Events will be held at Bottineau Winter Park.
