Shanell Azure, Belcourt, charged with possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine

Shanell Michelle Azure, also known as Shanell Lafrombois, 36, Belcourt, is charged in district court in Minot with possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, a Class B felony, possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class A misdemeanor, and making a false report to law enforcement, a Class A misdemeanor.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed with the court, the Minot Police Department responded to Walmart early Saturday after receiving a report that Kevin Marcel Conti was in the store. Conti had previously been banned from the store. When Conti was searched, Conti asked the officer to give his backback to Azure, who is also known as Shanell Lafrombois. He said Azure had a cab waiting for her in front of the store. The officer knew Azure had prior warrants out of Towner County. He put Conti in the back of the patrol vehicle and watched Azure walk toward the cab. The officer stopped Azure, who provided him with a false name. The officer compared her appearance with a recent booking photo of Azure and saw that her tattoo matched the one in the booking photo. He also confirmed the outstanding warrants. A search of Azure’s purse turned up approximately 104 grams of suspected meth, packaged in plastic bags, a digital scale, and $1,058 in cash. Azure also had approximately $392 on her at the jail.

Shanell Lafromboise-Azure is wanted on Class C felony charge of theft of property in Towner County, according to court records. She is also listed as Shanell Lafrombois and Shanell Azure in the court record. Azure also had a warrant through Ward County on a Class B misdemeanor charge of driving with a suspended driver’s license.

Conti has been charged in Minot Municipal Court with Class B misdemeanor trespass.
