Arvin Davis Jr. is known for his use of bright colors, strong brush strokes, detailed line work, and paint and ink splatters; it’s a controlled chaos. As a self-taught artist, he works in mixed media, predominantly: watercolors, inks, fluid acrylics, acrylics, whiteout.

At the start of a piece, either his children or Davis uses purposeful mistakes. The uncontrolled can add to and excite the imagination. The picture starts out with a rough sketch then Davis works it out smoothly, honing in on an idea, and manipulating the idea until the rhythm is reached. Arvin studio LittleRedLiar is located in the lower level of the old Chicago Club at 110 1st SE, downtown.

Cody Carlson is a local chainsaw artist who has been making and preserving wood art for the last four years.

Carlson stated, “The thing I like most about sculpture is that really the medium sheds itself into an awesomeness effortlessly and that’s a good feeling.”

All the wood he uses is locally sourced and his sculptures are all created in Minot. His studio is located at 305 Railway Ave East, which is located on the east side of the 3rd Street bridge in an industrial area.

Indigo Muse Gallery and Little Sugar and Spice Studio will open their doors to share local artists work and serve holiday treats. They are located on the second floor of the Union National Annex located at 7-A East Central Avenue.
