New Town to receive funds for lagoon project
WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development has approved funding for waste management infrastructure in Beach and New Town, according to North Dakota’s congressional delegation.
The City of New Town will receive a nearly $2.9 million loan and $2.3 million grant to improve the city’s sewage lagoon and accommodate population growth. Beach will receive a $482,000 loan and $307,243 grant to build a new sewer lift station and install about 4,000 feet of force main, replacing a more than 50-year-old sewer system.
The federal funds are made available through the Water and Waste Disposal Loans and Grants program.
