Man sentenced for terrorizing

A 24-year-old Minot man will serve five days in jail and three years of supervised probation for terrorizing his pregnant girlfriend on Feb. 16.

The girlfriend thought Patrick John Williams was high on drugs when he tried to strangle her and threatened her with a knife, according to court documents. The girlfriend and a friend had gone over to his residence to confront him about his alleged drug use.

Williams was sentenced on June 6 to a year in jail, with all suspended but the five days he has already served, as well as three years probation. He was also ordered to obtain a chemical dependency evaluation and pay $1,100 in court costs. The C felony will be reduced to a Class A misdemeanor if he successfully completes probation.
