Woman charged with biting police officer

A 47-year-old Minot woman is accused of biting a Minot police officer on the arm while she was being placed under arrest for detox on Saturday evening.

Tracy Holdaway is charged with simple assault on a police officer, a Class C felony carrying a maximum sentence of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine. She made an initial appearance in district court in Minot on Monday.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed with the court, Holdaway was drunk and physically resisted the officers when they tried to handcuff her. She bit Officer Belinda Gladback on the right forearm while Gladback and her partner were trying to get Holdaway into a wheelchair to take her into Trinity Hospital. In the emergency room, Holdaway continued to scream and yell. At one point, she tried to bite a doctor and the officers had to hold her down. Once Holdaway was cleared, she was taken to the Ward County Jail.
