Blue Goose Day at Audubon NWR
Blue Goose Day is scheduled for Thursday, June 24 5-8 p.m. at Audubon National Wildlife Refuge. The focus of the event is to provide outdoor activities that educate youth and their families about wildlife conservation and introduce new outdoor skills. Four 20-minute programs will be presented:
1. Build a Birdhouse – nail pre-cut lumber together to construct a nest box for bird. Each youth builds and takes one home.
2. Archery Range – shoot bow and arrows at full body animal targets and then challenge your skills by shooting and popping balloons.
3. Tips from the Trail – Learn tips for taking your next long distance (or short) hike. Youth will take home pocket safety items.
4. Air RifleTarget Shoot – learn to safely handle a firearm and then practice your target shooting skills by shooting an air rifle or BB gun.
5. Tasty Treat – the Douglas Sportsmen’s Club will provide a picnic supper for everyone.
There is no charge for the event, but pre-registration is required. Please call 701-442-5474 ext. 114 to pre-register. Registration will be limited to the first 60 children.
