Metigoshe Ministries to celebrate $5.7M capital campaign success

BOTTINEAU – Donors, volunteers and other supporters of Metigoshe Ministries will gather on Saturday to dedicate the newly constructed Conference Center at the Lakeside Christian Center, north of Bottineau.

The Rev. David Zellmer, interim ELCA bishop of the Western North Dakota Synod, will officiate at the dedication.

The conference center addition to the Lakeside Christian Center is the final project of the Ensure the Adventure campaign.

The new facility includes three conference rooms, a chapel, a sitting room and overnight guest rooms.

The campaign began in 2015 and raised $5.7 million in gifts and pledges. The gifts received have also financed construction of new buildings at Camp Metigoshe on Pelican Lake including a new year-round retreat facility named “Gary’s Place,” 16 new camper cabin spaces and expansion of meeting facilities and a storm shelter.

Metigoshe Ministries, Bottineau, is owned and sustained by 65 member congregations of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America in north central North Dakota.

Lakeside Christian Center is located north of Bottineau on the southeast shore of Lake Metigoshe. The Pelican Lake camp site is located on Pelican Lake five miles to the southeast.

Saturday’s activities are open to the public and will begin outdoors at 9 a.m. with the Metigoshe Ministries quilt auction, a popular annual event since the early 1980s. Dedication and celebration activities will fill the afternoon beginning at 4 p.m. In consideration of COVID-19 and social distancing, the dedication will occur outdoors with building tours offered in small groups. Masks will be required for the indoor tours. Parking will be available at Lakeside Christian Center.
