Library to hold Grab & LEGO event for kids

The Minot Public Library is busy preparing for its next event, Grab & LEGO, scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 7, at the east end of the Minot Public Library’s parking lot.

Over 150 free LEGO kits are waiting to be picked up by kids in the area.

“We are excited to give kids something to, not only, spark their imagination, but also, work those engineering skills,” said Kacey Donamaria, Children’s Library associate.

Grab & LEGO will start at 1 p.m. in the parking lot. Kids under 15 years old and present in the vehicle will receive a free Lego kit. Library staff then asks that kids make a creation and share a picture. Everyone who tags the Minot Public Library in the picture on Instagram or posts the picture in the Grab & LEGO Facebook event, will be entered to win a prize. Winners will be sent a message through the social media platform used.

The randomly chosen winner will receive a large set of LEGOS, a backpack, a lunchbox, a pencil case, a lanyard and a LEGO book so they can put all their Lego skills to the test.

“We hope that children and families will see that though books are essential to the mission of the Library, we offer so much more than just books,” said Janet Anderson, Library director.

The program is funded in part by Humanities North Dakota, a nonprofit independent state partner of the National Endowment for the Humanities
