Regular Meeting, South Prairie

School, HS Staff Workroom Tues-

day October 13, 2020.

1. Call Meeting to Order

President Randy Korslien called the

meeting to order at 6:34 p.m. Other

members present; Sheila Lindbo,

Chad Mosser, Steve Eberle and

Curt Olson. Also, present, Wayne

Stanley, Superintendent, Principal

Delwyn Groninger and Business

Manager Barb Magnuson.

2. Consent Agenda

2.1 Approve Agenda (order and/or

delete of items)

2.2 Approve Meeting Minutes

(9/8/20)

2.3 Pay Bills/Pay Warrants (See en-

closed Warrant List)

Moved by Mosser, seconded by Ol-

son to the consent agenda. All

ayes, Eberle abstained.

Business Manager’s Report – Mrs.

Magnuson

Reminder of upcoming virtual

School Board convention. Discussed

additional grant funds available

under the CARES Act. SFSP has

been extended to the end of the

school year. Discussed policy for

board member compensation.

Principal’s Report

Mr. Groninger: We have 5 quaran-

tine home school students and 13

distance learning students currently.

Intervention for reading and math

are in place for the students that

dropped in proficiency from last

year. Request that we hire a para to

help with a student who needs more

one on one attention.

Mr. Routledge: Maps testing is com-

pleted. Overall scores were very

good, and intervention is in place for

the students who need help in math

and reading. The new addition is

greatly anticipated as space is tight.

Staffing and subs is our biggest

challenge.

Superintendent’s Report – Mr.

Stanley:Enrollment numbers are at

491 K-12. Construction project con-

tinues to stay on schedule. Football

lights are up and working. Hired an

additional janitor to help with extra

cleaning.

Finance Committee: Discussion was

had regarding upcoming expendi-

tures for the new addition

Building Committee: Recommenda-

tion to approve equipment and sup-

plies for new addition.

7.1 Bus Loan: No delivery date has

been set. UCB will match last years’

bus loan terms.

7.2 Building Furniture and Equip-

ment: Motion to approve a budget of

$80,000 for classroom furniture and

Vo-Ag equipment by Eberle,

seconded by Olson. Carried unani-

mously.

7.3 Tuition Waiver/Open enroll-

ments: Mosser motioned to accept

the open enrollment, seconded by

Lindbo. Carried unanimously.

7.4 Teaching Contract Update: Lind-

bo motioned to approve the amend-

ed contract for Mrs. Fonder who has

added an additional class to keep

classroom size down. Seconded by

Mosser. Carried unanimously

8.1 Enrollment Update: Discussed in

Superintendent report

8.2 School Board Convention: Dis-

cussed in the Business Manager re-

port
