Relative Risk Site Evaluation
MINOT AFB, NORTH DAKOTA
TheAir Force completed the Relative
Risk Site Evaluation (RRSE) for
Minot Air Force Base (AFB)to sup-
port sequencing of environmental
restoration work. The RRSE process
is used to evaluate the relative risk
posed by an environmental restora-
tion site in relation to other sites.
Restoration sites in Comprehensive
Environmental Response, Compen-
sation, and Liability Act (CERCLA)
phases prior to remedy-in-place are
evaluated in the process. Due to
discovery of PFOS/PFOA, a RRSE
was completed for the sites. Relative
risk is not the sole factor in deter-
mining the sequence of environ-
mental restoration work, but it is an
important consideration in the priori-
ty setting process.
At Minot AFB, 10 restoration sites
were evaluated in the process. The
Overall Site Category scores were 5
“High”, 1 “Medium”, 3 “Low”, 1 “Not
Applicable”.
This Relative Risk Site Evaluation is
issued in accordance with the DoD
Defense Environmental Restoration
Program and is available for public
review for 30 days as of this notice.
