Minot State wrestling falls to top-ranked St. Cloud State 45-3

ST. CLOUD, Minn. — Minot State’s Keegan Berry posted a win at 184 pounds, but the Beavers lost to top-ranked St. Cloud State 45-3 in a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference dual Wednesday at Halenbeck Hall in St. Cloud, Minn.

St. Cloud State won the first five matches of the dual to take a 27-0 lead. The Beavers made it onto the scoreboard with Berry’s win but St. Cloud closed out the dual by winning the final four matches.

Berry’s win came from a 7-3 decision over St. Cloud’s Riley Vanik. Minot State’s Jordan Will and Dean Arevalo battled hard, but ultimately fell in decisions. Will fell to Zachary Muller 5-2 at 285 pounds while Arevalo dropped a 9-2 decision to Brett Velasquez at 125 pounds.

The rest of Minot State’s losses came from technical falls and pins.

Minot State will return to the mat today when it faces Upper Iowa in a NSIC dual beginning at 7 p.m.
