Majettes volleyball swept by three-time defending champs Century

BISMARCK — The Minot High School volleyball team was tested Thursday evening in Bismarck against three-time defending Class A state champions Century.

Facing an always challenging opponent, the Majettes (5-9, 1-6 WDA) couldn’t hang with the Patriots (10-3, 6-0 WDA) and were swept quickly by set scores of 25-7, 25-10 and 25-15.

MHS seniors Sydney Beck and Caitlyn Messner combined for 10 out of the Majettes’ 15 kills. Even more prevalent were the miscues, as Minot High racked up 20 attacking errors for a negative .066 hitting percentage.

Minot setters junior Paige Rosencrans and senior Hailey Espe each tossed up six assists. Espe and sophomore Morgan Wheeler dropped in aces. Espe also led the team with 10 digs. Junior Allie Nelson, Lauren McLean and Messner all had solo blocks.

The Majettes look to snap a five-match losing streak on Tuesday (Sept. 18) in Williston.
