Sabre Dogs open road trip with eighth straight win

The Souris Valley Sabre Dogs extended their winning streak to eight games with an 11-5 win in the series opener against the Hub City Hot Shots on Thursday night.

The Sabre Dogs jumped out to an early lead with three runs in the first inning and four in the second inning to lead 7-1 after two complete.

Jack Schuler jump-started the Sabre Dogs offense with an RBI double in the top of the first inning. Schuler went on to have a 2-for-5 day at the plate with 3 RBIs.

Jesse Ellefson threw 7 innings at the Sabre Dogs starter, striking out two, allowing 10 hits, and earning the win. Ellefson was relieved by Alec Ivanoff and Zach Lang over the final two frames.

Souris Valley, who’s 18-8 record puts them in first place in the Expedition League’s Lewis Division, will face Hub City in Game 2 Friday night. The Sabre Dogs complete this road trip with a two-game set against the Pierre Trappers starting on Saturday.
