Tauros hold off Wings 3-2

A Michael Talbot goal 8:49 into the third period lifted the Minot Minotauros over the Aberdeen Wings 3-2 Saturday night at Maysa Arena.

The Minotauros moved to 10-11-2 on the season, while the Wings dropped to 13-9-2.

Following a scoreless first period, both teams scored twice in the second. The Minotauros took a 2-0 lead with goals coming one minute and 11 seconds a part by Jake Rosenbaum and Miroslav Mucha.

It was Mucha’s team-leading 16th goal of the season. No other Minotauro has more than six goals this season.

The Wings responded with a pair of power play goals from Joe Strada and Zach Noble.

Talbot’s game-winning goal in the third period was just his second goal of the season.

The Wings outshot the Minotauros 34-31. Minot went 0-for-5 on the power play.

Goaltender Samu Lonkila picked up the victory in net by making 32 saves.

The Minotauros have a home-and-away series against the Bismarck Bobcats next weekend on Friday and Saturday.
