Ryan falls in first round to Beulah 38-7

BEULAH — The Bishop Ryan Lions football team had a somber conclusion to their 2017 season with a 38-7 opening-round road defeat to Beulah in the Class 11A playoffs.

Ryan (6-3) was shut out for three quarters before getting a consolation touchdown on a 32-yard pass from Ben Bohl to T.J. Scheig. JJ Johannsen added the extra point.

Beulah (8-1) opened the scoring early with a 58-yard touchdown run from Derek Ferebee 75 seconds into the contest. Ferebee scored his second touchdown in the third quarter.

The Miners also got rushing touchdowns from Mikey Morris and Tyler Erickson. Morris also threw a 72-yard pass to Mason Dolbec with three seconds left in the second half. Beulah rushed for 381 yards.

Beulah advances to face Velva in the next round. The quarterfinal game is going to be played in Velva.
