Majettes golf takes third at Williston Invite

The Minot High School girls golf team recorded its best result of the season so far Monday at the Links of North Dakota golf course.

After a pair of fifth place finishes to start the year, the Majettes shot a 362 as a team to finish on the podium behind Bismarck St. Mary’s (359) and Bismarck Century (361) at the Williston Invite.

“We battled windy conditions and discovered that we could grind out a competitive score,” MHS coach Scott Foltz said. “Hat’s off to the girls. It would have been easy to fold up the tent.”

St. Mary’s Gabby Easton carded an 83 to earn medalist honors. That was three strokes better than the three girls — Century’s Hannah Herbel, Jamestown’s Sarah Azure and Williston’s Kaleigh Carmichael — that tied for second place.

Minot had three of its six golfers finish inside the Top 10. Sophomore Jaci Jones led the way with an 88 to tie for fifth, followed by senior Marley Foltz and junior Joelle Fettig both shooting a 91 to tie for ninth.

Sophomore Becca Tschetter rounded out the Majettes’ team score by finished tied for 12th with a 92.

Not factoring into the team score for Minot was a round of 102 by freshman Bella Dobrinski and a 111 by freshman Sydney Berg in her first varsity competition this season.

The Majettes are right back at it today for the Dickinson Invite at the Heart River Golf Course.
