Minot High girls tennis rolls to West Region title

The Minot High girls tennis team rolled to the West Region team title Thursday at Hammond Park.

The Majettes lost just one individual match in three team matches Friday.

Minot’s Raquel Egge lost to Bismarck St. Mary’s Emily Bichler in the No. 1 singles match of the day. The Majettes then countered with four straight victories to win the match 4-1.

Kali Askvig and Haya Dodin won in singles play. Evie Reynolds and Alyssa Henson won in the No. 1 singles match, while Joelle Fettig and Gwen Mathews picked a win for the Majettes in the No. 2 doubles match.

In the semifinals, the Majettes rolled to a 5-0 win over Bismarck.

Egge, Askvig and Dodin won in singles for the Majettes, while the teams of Reynolds and Henson and Fettig and Mathews won in doubles.

Minot clinched the region team title with a 5-0 win over Williston Thursday evening.

Egge won in three sets over Williston’s Bethanie Pippin in the No. 1 singles match, while Askvig and Dodin also won in singles.

Reynolds and Henson won in three sets in the No. 1 doubles match, while Fettig and Mathews won in the No. 2 match.

The individual portion of the region tournament will begin today at Hammond Park.
