JAMESTOWN — It came down to the final match up at the Minot State University wrestling dual against Jamestown. With the score tied 19-19, Jamestown wrestler William Parks pinned Bryce Broome to win the dual for UJ.

MSU was given a 6-0 lead to start the match as the Jimmies forfeited the heavyweight class. Jamestown quickly took the lead they had given up with three wins, including one by fall at 125, 133 and 141 to take a 12-6 lead.

The Beavers then won two of their own at 149 and 157 with Cody Haugen winning by major decision and Shane Sheppard winnining by decision to move the score to 13-12 in favor of Minot State.

Jamestown came back again with two wins at 174 and 184 to earn seven points for their team and go back up 19-13. MSU, with just two match ups left, needed a big win at 184 and that’s just what they got.

Keegan Berry, the freshman standout from Casper, Wyo., continued his strong debut season with a win by fall, pinning his opponent in under 60 seconds, to tie up the competition at 19 apiece. The Jimmies ultimately won, winning six of the nine match ups competed in by both teams.

Minot State will compete against five nonconference schools at the Kutztown University (Pa.) duals on Friday and Saturday, January 20 and 21. The Beavers will begin on Friday at 5 p.m. and Saturday at 9 a.m.
