Minotauros four-game win streak snapped

The Minnesota Wilderness came into Maysa Arena Friday night and ended the Minot Minotauros four-game winning streak, 3-1, with the game-winning goal coming midway through the third period.

The Wilderness, third in the Central Division, scored first 6:48 into the contest with Ashton Altmann scoring his first goal of the season.

The Central Division leading Minotauros evened the score at 1-1 in the second period on a goal by Jack Murphy, assisted by Jake Dittel and Tyler Jeanson.

The deadlock was broken in the third. Michael Zuffante netted the deciding goal with 9:11 left on the clock. Then, with 29 seconds left, Zuffante added an empty net goal to make the final score 3-1.

The Minotauros next game is Thursday, which starts a three-game skid against rivals Bismarck Bobcats taking place over three straight days.

Ryan rolls past Mohall-Lansford-Sherwood, 64-37

MOHALL — The Bishop Ryan girls basketball team continued its recent strong play Friday night with a 64-37 win over Mohall-Lansford-Sherwood in in a District 12 contest in Mohall.

The Lions (6-3) raced out to a 15-6 lead after the opening period and used to 15-9 surge in the second to take a 30-15 lead into intermission.

Annika Stewart finished with 22 points to pace Ryan, while Morgan Kroeger added 15 and McKinley Harmon had 10.

Leah Feland scored 12 points in the loss for M-L-S.

Ryan will host Glenburn on Monday.

Minot High swimmers win Fargo North triangular

FARGO — The Minot High boys swim and dive team won Friday’s Fargo North triangular team, finishing the meet with 219 points.

Century was a close second with 215 points, while Fargo North came in third with 121.

Minot’s Gerald Brown won the 200 IM with a time of 1 minute and 59.43 seconds. Brown also claimed a win in the 100 backstroke with a mark of 53.64.

Minot’s Griffin Schaeffer won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:04.31, while the Minot also won the 400 freestyle relay with a mark of 3:26.96.
