Historic night for DL-B boys basketball

STANLEY — One night after letting a game slip through their finger tips at Our Redeemer’s Christian School, the Des Lacs-Burlington boys basketball team bounced back in a historic way Friday night.
The Lakers got 22 points from senior Drew Pearson as DL-B won 70-61 at Stanley in Class B basketball action.
The win gives head coach Doug Wagner his 600th career win.
The night became even more special for the Lakers as Pearson recorded his 1,000th career point.
Mark Medalen and Jarrett Vendsel each scored nine points in the win for DL-B. Kaedyn Hanson and Wyatt Hanson each scored 21 points in the loss for Stanley.

ORCS picks up home win over Berthold
The Our Redeemer’s Christian School girls basketball team picked up a 65-34 win over Lewis & Clark-Berthold Friday night in Minot.
The Knights were sparked to the win behind the play of Morgan Olson, who finished with 27 points and 13 rebounds.
Olson scored 12 points in the second stanza as ORCS outscored the Bombers 18-8 to build a 33-23 lead at halftime.
Abby Simons scored 18 points in the loss for Berthold.
ORCS will host Surrey on Monday, while the Bombers will face Bishop Ryan.

Majettes gymnastics take second in Mandan
MANDAN — The Minot High School gymnastics team competed at the Starstruck Invite in Mandan on Friday and finished runner-up to Bismarck High, 141.825 points to 135.050 points, while beating out four other teams.
The Majettes had two girls place in the top 10 all around: seventh for Lyric Leverenz and 10th for Bella Price. Bismarck High topped the all around standings with the top three finishers in Rachel Dillman, Kate Dillman and Morgan Salwei.
Rachel Dillman won the vault, beam, floor events and took second on bars.
Minot’s Olivia Spengler finished third in the vault. Grace Shanklin placed third on the bars and Jordyn Kitzman also placed third on the beam for Minot.
