There's NO way the Locals can keep up with the increased costs of living in Minot. The property Taxes are some of the highest in the Country and the over inflated values on Real Estate are now dropping and someones gonna get hurt real bad.

"Even if you are getting paid more and your house is worth more..."

Stop. These ARE benefits, are they not? There are too many people who don't remember how hard it was a mere ten years ago.

There are several people in this area that are on fixed incomes, and have lived in this area all of their lives, and are suffering, due to the high taxes, and the higher cost of living!

Wouldn't it be nice if we could all say yes because state stopped collecting income tax and sales tax, and property tax has been reduced for everybody because the schools can be paid for by the oil the state sells. All communities get even more money to maintain and operate an emergency system which includes all ambulances, fire trucks and road graders.

Even if you are getting paid more and your house is worth more, doesn't mean you are benefiting. Taxes and cost of living have increased exponentially wiping out any gains. Add in the increase in crime and traffic, and lower overall feeling of safety. Minot has lost it's "hometown" feel.

Wow. 71% say they aren't? Really? Somehow I find that hard to believe. If you own a home in Minot, has the value of your property increased? If so, you should vote "yes". Do you work in a non-oil related industry, but have seen your pay increase to stay competitive? If so, you should vote "yes". Have you found it easier to find employment of any sort in Minot as opposed to, say, 10 years ago? If so, you should vote "yes".
