People are too dang sensitive now a days. We are building a society of weak minded wimps. What happened to sticks n stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me?! I'm Caucasian, Scandinavian. Could care less if I got called a white cracker scander or whatever! Why do people get so offended about what others think? If you are happy with yourself, things like this won't bother you. You won't let it bother you and that self confidence is gratifying. No words can bring me down, cause I won't let them! I'm stronger than that!

Your right Sickworld. I have so many buffalo roll spots that never go away. And a lot of Indian rings still in place, where they lived. I will never let that be disturbed. Maybe when I die, it will be.

Perhaps we should try some "reparative therapy" AGAIN, like they're doing in Texas.....
According to U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, the Texas GOP will recognize the legitimacy and efficacy of counseling, which offers reparative therapy and treatment for those patients seeking healing and wholeness from their cultural lifestyle.....
Boy, here we go again with that 1890's thinking.....Grand Outdated Party!

I did a little research why this term is again in the headlines.. the POTUS calls anywhere Natives live Indian country. The POTUS would not like it if we called Afrika Black Country.

"The history of the United States and tribal nations is filled with broken promises," Obama said. "But I believe that during my administration, we've turned a corner together."
Obama just wants to get close to the oil money, he gets all giddy and squirmy when he gets around billions of dollars he can possibly acquire.

I agree that everyone is too sensitive but I also believe there is a lot of cruelty out there that should be addressed as well. It starts in the home so, parents, can we try to raise our kids to have some empathy instead of sense of entitlement?

Wait a minute! Since when is this term "often used today to refer to Indian reservations"? I have NEVER until today when reading this poll heard this term used in that context!

Since Obama uses the term, I guess it is okay and the rest of us should be able to refer to reservations as Indian Country as well.
No, it's not "Indian country", it's "the reservation".
Rez it is, so........the POTUS is racist? Politically incorrect!(we already knew that)! That's hilarious!! Does he call Mexico, Mexican country too, or japan, Asian land? Last time I checked, white people were the minority in this country, not in ND, but certainly around the country!! Such a double standard!! If bush would've said it, there'd be law suits and riots galore!! Indian country, pssssh, what a dip sh!t

I'm stronger than words too but politicians live and breathe the power of words and how to spin the intent. I could use that term to describe a beautiful people with a rich culture or I could use that term in a very demeaning way. So I guess for me it's all about agendas.

"No, it's not "Indian country", it's "the reservation""
The legal definition of Indian Country is (USA) Land within an Indian reservation and all such other dependent Indian territories, and all land acquired by Indians.
Just thought you would like to know.....
Seriously...this is a thing then...
So theoretically, if someone of American Indian background were to buy a house somewhere, that would be "Indian Country" too.
"Only the rightwingers are racist. Right PJ?"
Not every right-winger is a racist -- but every racist is a right-winger.

Remember, there's always someone who will point to one of the colors in the rainbow with contempt & throw away a good pair of gloves cause they're dirty.....I wonder if the media on the right see's anything good about the President of the United States paying a respectful visit to the Native Americans from the Dakotah's???

The proportion of Alaska's population identified as American Indian and Alaska Native, alone or in combination, in 2012, the highest rate for this race group of any state. Alaska was followed by Oklahoma (13.4 percent), New Mexico (10.4), South Dakota (10.0 percent) and Montana (8.1 percent).
Are you sure he is coming to ND??

Natives say native American, indian with reservation and country. Should we not let them lead the way? When they say "indian" is offensive, we should listen. It is overdue time to stop the anti-German propaganda in so many movies since WWII. Jay lenno said Germany's contribution to tv was the history channel. Nazi's r bad--Germans r not.
