What should be done with oil companies that allow their wells to spill oil into state waterways?

  1. Fine them
  2. Fine them more
  3. Shut them down
  4. Let existing law dictate

"Fine them enough to justify putting it into an account to pay for schools. We could build a new school every six months!"

Nope. Not according to the Minot Daily News . . .

MDN:

"Oil companies, or any other business that attracts large numbers of new residents, have no financial obligation to pay for new public schools."

It's ok, the oil will float on top of the water and can make its way all the way to Mandan to the Tesoro refinery where the oil can then be diverted to a gathering pool and can be refined into petroleum products.

You have to look on the bright side.

Also, give the offending oil companies a tax break so they can afford to pay for the clean up. Oil companies will appreciate the act of kindness as a good will gesture and will be truly grateful.

The glass is half full, not half empty.

Don't be so vindictive and give these oil companies a serious break.

Ronaldo, not sure where you're living, I live in Minot and in the ten years since we bought our house, the value has doubled but our property taxes have gone down every year. We are paying $500.00 less now than ten years ago.
